Dear Masters Newberry;
As a journalist I want to write down what we have learned from you. First, I want to express our gratitude for the great time we have had in your classes.
Two Weeks ago I came with my son Amos to you in order of finding out, if he could participate in your "Tiny Tigers" program. After listening to you I was already very impressed by the principles on which your program of teaching small children is based on.
Amos is a very energetic boy and I was hoping, he could pick up some of your Taekwondo aspects to help him concentrate better and coordinate his movements. Already after his first class I could see changes in him. He became very enthusiastic about the class, wanted to come back and asked every day: "Mom, can we go to the Tiny Tiger class" now?
I did not expect that he will develop such a strong motivation, partly because he does not understand English and had never been to a Taekwondo class.
At home he exercises by himself and is happy when he is told he does well. He has learned a lot and so have I!
I have great admiration for your way of teaching. It is a teaching that is based on real deep understanding what kids (and parents) need to learn for their life: For instance, no one is a master out of thin air, one has to practice and learn the power to get better day by day. It seems to be obvious but by your methods I learned how I can support my own child to develop such a Yes-I-Can attitude.
As a woman I admire you Mrs. Master Newberry for acquiring your black belt skills. I think that it takes a special strength for a woman to get there, It is wonderful to see how a couple like you help not only the children but the their parents too.
I apologize for all my English mistakes.
Cordially yours and many thanks.
Jeanne Grunstein
Here are some words, Amos wanted me to translate to you:
I liked especially the front kick and the side kick, breaking the board and punching the paper. I liked how the older children helped me and I loved Criss Cross Applesauce. Thank you very much. I really want to come back.
Bye, bye, and a kiss.
